Our purpose
Orchestra Books was founded to give serious cultural publishing a durable home in the United Kingdom. We believe a publishing house should do more than produce objects: it should create contexts in which ideas, voices and works of art can continue to circulate.
Our editorial territory
Our programme brings together literature, philosophy, aesthetics, criticism, art, music, cinema, theatre, architecture and the humanities. We are especially interested in works that connect disciplines or move meaningfully between languages.
Books across borders
Based in London, we work with authors, translators, publishers, agents, libraries and cultural institutions in Britain and internationally. Translation and rights partnerships form an important part of our approach.
Readers and institutions
Alongside publishing, we operate a specialist bookshop and supply service for individual readers, booksellers, universities, libraries, schools and cultural organisations.
Our standard
Editorial seriousness. Clear metadata. Careful production. Respect for readers.
We aim to present every title with accurate information, thoughtful design and a practical route to purchase, rights discussion or institutional supply.
