Copyright in a publication may belong to the author, translator, illustrator, photographer, estate, original publisher, Orchestra Books Ltd or another rights holder. The appearance of a title on this website does not necessarily mean that Orchestra Books controls every right.
When to request permission
Contact us before reproducing substantial text, images, cover artwork, tables, illustrations or other protected content; adapting or translating a work; using material in a commercial publication, course pack, exhibition, film, broadcast, podcast or digital product; or producing an accessible edition outside a statutory exception.
Information required
- title, author and ISBN of the Orchestra Books publication;
- exact material requested, including page numbers and word or image count;
- your proposed work, publisher or organisation, format, language, territory, print run or audience;
- publication or use date, retail price where relevant, and whether the use is commercial;
- your full contact and billing details.
Academic quotation and legal exceptions
Some limited uses may be permitted by law without a licence, for example fair dealing for quotation, criticism, review, research or education when the applicable conditions are satisfied. We cannot give legal advice about whether a proposed use falls within an exception.
Permission is not automatic
Do not assume permission has been granted until you receive written confirmation. A fee, credit line, copy requirement, time limit, territory limit or other condition may apply. Clearance from additional rights holders may also be required.
